It’s back-to-school [even though you graduated years ago now], another new year, but the mood is sweeter than in January, and it smells better too – smokey and earthy, and rich as red wine. Alternating between crunchy chill and glowing warm, the sun is low enough you can jump to reach it. Textures of cashmere, sleeves, proper shoes that cover your toes, cool stone, gnarled wood, soggy underfoot, spiky air.
